Apologize for the mistake
As someone told me that the word 'native" carries some racial meaning, I would like to apologize for my poor English. i disagree with those who said "native" has a racial connotation , in english the meaning is quite different from the french word "natif" , if you begin to study many languages you will soon see that many people use "native xxxx speaker " to refer to someone whose mother tongue is xxxxx , without any other under meaning I'm ready to learn many things with you ;)
原帖由 Baudelaire 于 19-7-2008 17:59 发表 i disagree with those who said "native" has a racial connotation , in english the meaning is quite different from the french word "natif" , if you begin to study many languages you will soon see th ... I thought native is used for "indigéne" wish in french doesn't sound pretty well. Maybe that's the way we translate it but the meaning is not so badly "flavoured" in english. If native can also be translated as "natif" is a bit better but I'm not sure you can use it with french.
I make some research, english seems to use native language as mother tongue whish can be translated by "langue maternelle". So no racial connotation in english maybe. Nevermind welcome in France the country where black people or not black but "colored people" ^^.
(My english is so bad, sorry :p)
